Kaplan Higher Education Campuses Graduates 5,700 in the Fourth Quarter; Kaplan College San Diego Graduate Invests in Herself and Earns a Rewarding Career

CHICAGO, IL, January 14, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Precious Bejar had a steady income working in retail, but she wanted a successful career she enjoyed. She is one of more than 5,700 students who graduated from Kaplan Higher Education Campuses in the fourth quarter of 2012, and like many of her fellow graduates, continuing her education was the key to reaching her goals.

"I was at a point in my life where I wanted a career, not just a job that paid the bills, but I was apprehensive about going back to school," said Precious Bejar, Kaplan College San Diego graduate. "With the help of the Kaplan College staff, I realized I was worth the investment in my future."

Precious felt encouraged by her instructors and excelled academically in the medical billing and coding specialist program. One instructor challenged her class to push themselves to a higher level, telling them employers are looking for those who stand out and can perform above average. Precious took his advice to heart and applied it to her program-required externship.

Her externship site was so impressed with her performance that it created a part-time position to retain Precious upon her November graduation. While she continues to help out at her externship site, Precious started the new year with a full-time position as a billing specialist at an oncology research center.

Since graduating, Precious feels like she is a stronger professional with more confidence.

"Not only did I gain knowledge about billing and coding, I now have a network of people who really care about me," she said. "The doors are open for me and I can accomplish anything."

In addition to Precious, students from 35 other Kaplan Higher Education Campuses celebrated the achievement of obtaining a diploma or degree in the fields of allied health, criminal justice, information technology, legal, nursing or various trades. The fourth quarter 2012 graduations included:
